Before we could lay more track, we needed to re-grade the long approach to the main road crossing, including where it passes through the 'tree tunnel'. The grade was taken down by an average of six inches, with the greatest reduction being at the crossing, where the grade was lowered 24 inches. The other side of the north loop also converges at the crossing. This other side was reduced by 6 inches in elevation, leaving the grade on this slope to about 4%.
