March, 2007

March was spent working on grading the South Loop. It was important to get this filled and graded as we want to lay track here next spring. This gives the ground one year to settle and reach final compaction. After grading, the sides of the slope were covered in compost in preparation for planting. We expect to plant the side of the hill after the heat and drying winds of the summer pass. In addition to planting, we will need to install irrigation to keep the plants green.
At the far side, it will be necessary to build a short (in height and length) trestle to pass over a natural drainage location.
