July, 2007

July was time to do some future work. I went to the other side of the road crossing and started to grade through a major cut. This area had been previously cut down about 10 feet from the natural slope.  It was  necessary to deepen the cut by another six feet for the track to go through without a prohibitive grade, . At some point in the future, this cut may be converted into a tunnel.

Approaching the cut. Wouldn't a narrow gauge consolidation
look good coming through here?

At the start of the cut. Most of the material to the right has been cut and removed.

Continuing to pare down the slope. The area at the middle of the photo needs to be cut another 18 inches.

Now much closer to the desired depth.
